@Kaetel

Finally, I tend to agree with this idea that Nephilim works with cultural material that has become inert: tales & legends, which has not been radioactive for a long time. I just wonder what relationship our American neighbors have with the occult material they bring into play, the new age still being alive in society, unlike the Templars.
In regards to my work and a possible US Nephilim 2E,  @Cleanthe gets a lot of this correct.
One thing I would like to emphasize is that the idea is two-part:
- US should not copy-paste the French game and call it their own.  So it should differ.
- There is 30 years since it was in US, so there is no concept of what this game is at all (other than a few elderly men)

With that said, it is not actually a very different game altogether, it just frames the concepts in ways that the US market will be able to jump in and play quickly. Especially for people who know nothing of the occult, let along bespoke French occult history.

The changes let the game be same, play the same, but also let it be diverse too.  You can still play a Fire-ka Phoenix, but you can also player a Fire-ka chupacabra. And so we made the creation of your Metamorph custom, instead of a set-list.  Same game, same play, but extra options.  So not as different as it sounds.

Same same with humans and Simulacrum.  yes, you are born, but you can still Discorporate, possesses, and jump bodies.  You start as default on Golden Path to develop Solar-ka, but you can switch or customize at any time.   This gives new players a moral and ethical start, but allows the game to develop from there and can even go in the direction that the FR game sets up Simulacrum to be.

So again, not different as it seems.

As far as metaplot, and religions and culture appropriation = we have broken the book into two parts = the game and the lore.  So players can play Nephilim with any set of philosophy and metaplot and lore they enjoy.  The rules support all in a basic way.  And then we can make campaign books or setting books that detail out specific and well researched metaplots and lore and history.

This makes it easier to play if you are new as well.  A lot less to consume!  And a lot more is familiar at its core "I am a person with magic and I go do stuff".  then the game reveals its self as you play - emergent roleplay.

-------

With all that said, I do think there is a better knowledge and understanding of occult and mythic ties within the European gaming community (what did Eddie Izzard say?  This is where the history is from... he he he), so it makes sense that the FR books would have a much easier time pulling from all of that history and locations people get to actually see.   Americans mostly have no idea of the story of Le Morte d'Arthur ... so using that as a core base is not helpful to them.
