@Storyteller Thanks for all the details regarding the differences between the US and French editions.
Regarding introductory games, starter sets (quickstart guides) have been available since the 3rd edition to help new players. That said, it’s fair to admit that
Nephilim’s occult lore—spanning several millennia—is tough to convey, as are the game's unique concepts. Here is the link for the 5th edition quickstart guide:

A French publisher, Les XII Singes, also put out an initiation quest focused on teenagers coming into contact with Nephilim. I’m not personally familiar with the book itself, but it has the merit of letting you play without having to jump straight into playing Nephilim—you play teens in a French village instead, which definitely makes the game much more accessible. It comes as a boxed set with light rules, the scenario, and player handouts. The campaign was written by Cédric Ferrand, who also worked on
Nephilim 5th Edition, though this specific product isn't an official 5E supplement. Here is the link to buy the box set:

As for your point about what players actually do, most of the time they run the pre-made campaigns and scenarios released since the 1st edition. There is a staggering amount of material, including legendary campaigns like
Le Souffle du Dragon (
The Dragon's Breath). That one, for example, is set in Brittany, and the modules skillfully blend local folklore (in this case, Breton traditions and Arthurian legend), occult traditions, and magic unique to Nephilim. A centuries-old castle with its lineage of lords can easily turn out to be a family that struck an occult pact with a Nephilim.
A Renaissance fireplace carved with alchemical symbols can quickly become a gateway to an Akasha... In short,
Nephilim weaves local lore and deep-country France (rural towns and villages harboring secrets) together with the ancient agendas of secret societies and Major Arcana.
Ah! This is very helpful, thank you so much!
I will check out the books. If they are modern PDF to buy then I can usually get a translator software if they are not in English. But old OCR scans don't always work well it they are paper only. So I will check those out, thanks!
I am also interested to hear the players use the pre-made campaigns and scenarios a lot. That gives me a good idea of what stories and plots they like. (Of course I am sure everyone adds and changes to make their own).
With my version of the game, it is very strongly tied to metaphysical and new age, but that is only the 'recent developments' - hence why it is set in the "Age of Aquarius" as its default. It also allows for old world connections and original French occult ideology. Which makes travel in countryside and ancient places feel special because they hold old Truths.
